Match report
We arrived to find a very pretty venue but with one of the longest boundaries we have ever played with on one side. Our 4 wicket keepers suddenly were very interested in being behind the stumps.
Stanners as usual lost the toss and the Idlers batted first. After a brief opening spell of three overs Tom Gibbs retired hurt and it was Billy Maisey and Max Felgate who bowled well without much luck.
Stanners (2- 51) and Sam Pougatch bowled either side of lunch with Stanners getting a couple one a sharp caught of bowled much to everyone's amazement not least him.
Mike Fernie backed up the bowling at the end taking 2 - 12 in 4 overs.
Tom having done little was then pressed into action as an opener. Despite protestations of being a number 11 top scored with 33. Several others scored 20s but no one went on to compile a big score and despite Mark Pougatch leading a rearguard action to try and save a draw we were bowled out with 4.4 overs to go.
Great location good opposition and whats more they have said they would like to play us again next year mission accomplished.
Thanks also to Dresh who filled in at short notice.
