Result - Castle Hill

Sun May 15th The Grannies win by 5 wickets

Match report

On a rather colder Sunday than the week before, Castle Hill agreed to bat first, as the Grannies felt chasing was a better option.
What the Grannies did not know at the time, was the team contained a rather useful off-spinner.
Justus started up the hill, with his wristy action and had the ball moving around, along with at times, a real lack of bounce.
A young Rory Pritchard (age 15) started the other end and soon had Will (Finn), who was umpiring, having to give an lbw.
Both returned later to pick up further wickets, with Justus finishing with figures of: 7 overs, 2 maidens, 1 wicket for 19 runs.
Rory with: 7 overs, 0 maidens, 2 wickets for 35 runs.
Castle Hill had got off to a good, quick start, but with Mike, manning the troops with Will not needing to play, he introduced Henry first change, things then started to change in the Grannies favour.
Wickets started to tumble, even with the odd lusty blow and Harry keeping it fairly tight at the other end (5 overs, 0 for 18).
With drinks being taken, Will had a quick word with Mike to suggest that others needed a bowl !!!
Henry therefore finished with: 6 overs, 2 maidens, 4 wickets for 29 runs.
By this point the Grannies were into the tale and the pressure was on the incoming batsmen, so wickets continued to fall.
Dan Pritchard had figures of: 4 overs, 1 maiden, 2 wickets for 17 runs (over 2 spells).
Alex had figures of: 3 overs, 1 maiden, 1 wicket for 6 runs.
Jonny had figures of: 3 overs, 1 maiden, 0 wickets for 12 runs.
With Mike taking 3 catches, 2 at slip, both coming off wicket keeper, Adam.
Castle Hill were all out for 147 off 35 overs and tea was taken half an hour early.
Adam (10 runs) and James (14 runs) started the Grannies innings and edged the scoring along, due to some accurate bowling from the opening pair, but also knowing there was no hurry to get the runs.
Both were however undone by a couple of straight ones, which left Mike and Ed to continue on the good work that had been initially done.
Both decided to give some catching pratice when each had scored 42, instead of seeing it through to the end.
Alex did not trouble the scores much with 4, but both Jonny (24) and Dan (6) saw us home, with Jonny hitting a six, to take us to 151 for 5 off 30.3 overs and therefore winning the game by 5 wickets.
Many thanks to all that played, it was a pleasure to watch a convincing performance and also to give a couple of them out !!!!!
Enjoy the rest of the season.
