Result - Hampshire Hogs

Sun May 4th Grannies do 69 with Hogs

Match report

The Hogs won the toss and proceeded to hog the crease...for 69.1 overs (428 deliveries including wides and no-balls). The plan in the latter stages was to get their opener to 100 but he was ultimately run out on 97 (off 208 balls). The Grannies stuck to their task very well in the field, Tom Gibbs' figures being 14-3-39-2 and Dom Fry's 21-5-37-2, and the fielding was excellent, a feature being a sneaky leg-side stumping by the Chairman and only 9 byes in 428 downs and ups. The Hogs declared finally on 230 for 7.
The Grannies set off in pursuit with a purpose, Adam Parkinson (67) and Si Baldey (30) enjoying an opening combination of 86. Wickets then tumbled until Fry crashed 60 (off 51) and the Chairman 1 (off 15) in a partnership of 47 for the 9th wicket, Dom ultimately dragging on from way outside off-stump, when going for another biggy. A liitle disappointingly we were all out for 204, losing by 26, but the moral high ground was secure, our runs being scored in a mere 48.5 overs.
