Result - Stragglers of Asia

Sat Jul 31st Grannies Lose by 222 Runs

Match report

A strong Stragglers side wrapped up a very convincing win against an understrength Grannies side who effectively had three players filling in. Batting first Stragglers hit 292 for 6. Despite their being no lack of effeort from the Grannies bowlers including 19 overs from Alex Rushent, only Tim Begg 5 overs 2 for 15 emerged with a creditable spell as the Stragglers batsmen prospered.

In reply the Grannies response was a bit of a shambles (that's being kind) with only Tim Begg 28 and Alex Rushent 20 reaching double figures. The Stragglers very competent spin team won the day with their best bowler returning 7 for 11.

Great venue, friendly opposition, nice lunch but inadequate performance. A much stronger in depth Grannies side will be required next year.

Match info

This is a beautiful ground on which to play cricket and always produces a very good game.

Lunch and Tea are excellent and the wicket is decent with shortish boundaries.

The fixture has something for everyone and there is plenty of space for families.
