Willoughby Wynne 1934 - 2011

2011-01-25:

“Many of you will already have heard the bleak news that Willoughby has died, on Saturday last. He was battling illness in the Cromwell Hospital and was eventually defeated by it. Happily he was beautifully looked after and was in no discomfort, with his family around him. There will be tributes aplenty from many quarters for a much loved man. For the Grannies he was of course a legend and it undoubtedly marks the passing  of an era."

More than 60 Grannies attended Willoughby's funeral at the Carmelite Church on Kensington Church Street which was a truly moving service. Willoughby's favourite priest and school friend from Ampleforth gave the sermon while Mark Pougatch gave the eulogy. Both summing up WW from slightly different perspectives but having known him for most and all of their lives. We will be adding a new section to the website shortly to remind us of Willoughby who did so much to maintain the original spirit of the Grannies throughout the lifetime of the club.
