Sun Sep 20th The Grannies lost by 115 runs
Match report
Stone in Oxney - 222 for 7
The Grannies - 107
We had 2 pull out due to rugby injuries on Saturday night so I drafted in my middle son and played with 10. They were also at 10 and were very good hosts as always, delicious tea and fond of our fixture.
The weather was beautifully sunny and the wicket volatile (low and popping...)
They batted first and got 222 for 7. We held some good catches and fielded well (good run out) - their first ten overs were aggressive as expected with one of their batters retiring on 50 in very good time. We calmed them down with some good tight bowling which led me to put on my middle son (11 yr old and has played men's cricket this season)...
I am afraid we were 100 short with the bat - I got out early as did my fellow opener and we couldn't recover. We got a couple of floored bounce balls and missed one of the adults who pulled out the night before. Stone were brilliant at bowling just right to the younger crowd and to be fair had a great time with us in the field and played in exactly the right spirit.
