Sun Jun 16th The Grannies win by 5 wickets
Match report
The Grannies pitched up in the picturesque village of Fletching and a pre-match pint at the Griffin. Off the back of a couple of heavy defeats in the past years, the Grannies were feeling relatively confident with their side, fielding a couple of Sussex acadamy playes and a South African quickie...Sadly the Griffin didn't field their usual side of Sussex premier league players (one also a Granny). Having won the toss the Grannies put Fletching in and a couple of early wickets, including the previous Irish international meant that we had to hold back our South African speedster.
The Griffin reached 180 and after a delicious tea the Grannies set out to chase down the total. Sam de St Croix made a tidy 15 and Dan Armitage a steady 35. George Jones, our South African quicky who didn't get a chance to bowl hit his first ever 50 and the Grannies chased down the target with 5 wickets down and without needing to call upon their young batting talent.
A great day, fantastic hospitality and next year both captains will ensure evenly matched teams.
