Match report
Despite 4 understandable drop outs 8 elite golfers gathered on a sunny day amongst preparations being made for the Estate's "Goodwoof" event over the w/e.We split into two 4 ball teams with the more ancient in buggies and the more youthful on foot with one exception in the shape of Tim Begg, our eldest Granny winning the much coveted wooden rocking chair with a score of 29 points, shared with Bob Percival and Billy Maisey, but won on count back. The longest drive predictably went to Billy and nearest the pin to Draff as no-one else troubled the green !The team score went to Andrew Carr (23), Rupert Bedford (25), Billy Maisey(29) and Tim Begg(29) totalling 106 points against the B team with 98 points. Whilst Gerald Slocock had 3 pars on the last 9, he picked up the prize for the most outrageous shot but fortunately our former veteran Chairman was quick to duck. Others enjoyed prizes of home made marmalade, asparagus tips and second hand balls for various misdemeanours of which the booby prize for 23 points went to Stanners.
After 15 or so years playing at Goodwood we plan to give Cowdray a go next year, thanks to Stanners recent membership.
