Result - Eton Ramblers

Sun Jul 24th The Grannies lose by 4 wickets

Match report

On another baking hot afternoon The Grannies elected to bat first and skipper Billy Maisey was soon into his stride, only narrowly failing to make a century before lunch when he fell in the 80s. The Grannies batted deep and well. Sam White, grandson of an original member George Fearnley-Whittingstall, made an excellent 50 on his debut and there was a late partnership of real brio from Jasraj Sanghera and Sam Pougatch which allowed Billy to set the Ramblers a fair total .

We suffered an early blow when Tony Russell, who it was wonderful to see back in Granny colours, pulled a hamstring in the gully but never the less we chipped away and with 20
Overs left looked set to push the Ramblers all the way, but ultimately the combination of being a man down, a lightning outfield, some aggressive batting and a short boundary on one side took its toll and the Ramblers got home by four wickets just in time
