Falconhurst is always an August treat on the Grannies calendar with the offer of a pretty ground, a competitive game and a pint of Kentish ale as the sun sets.

This year a Grannies side looking more youthful than usual bowled first and restricted the hosts hard-hitting line up to 184 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 30 overs. Kit Schutzer-Weissmann was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-17 off his 6 overs, with Mike Fernie doing an excellent job at disrupting the lower middle order as they looked to take the game away from the Grannies with a spell of 3-20. They were well supported by Henry Wilkinson (1-19) and Tom Bell (1 for 24).

The Grannies started their reply well with Schutzer-Weissmann twins playing with freedom and style (Peter- 47 and Kit-27) however after they were out the runs dried up. Tight accurate bowling by the hosts tied up the middle Order and the Grannies eventually ended up well short on 143-8.

A defeat but still an August treat.
