Result - The Bar of England and Wales

Sun Jun 30th The Grannies lose by 45 runs

Match report

The Chairman selected a strong team on paper, always a risk, and then promptly elected to play for the other side. Did he know something we did not!
The Bar won the toss and elected to bat. There were two early wickets to Rob Frome and Billy Maisey who both bowled very well and were followed up by Johnny Armour and Will Dunn who bowled well without luck. Toby Pullan and Stanners then took a couple of wickets leaving the Bar at 196 for 4, Stockham and Newcomb (both Grannies) 90* and 57 respectively.
The Bar got 196 in 35 overs, which should have been doable but the 3 top bats, Hoskyns out 3rd ball, Toby Pullan out for very few to a good ball and Billy Maisey skied an early full toss and that was the end of him. To cap it all Jonny Morris was run out on 61 in a mix up with Johnny Armour who was called for a second but declined failing to realise that Jamie Williams didn’t have an arm!
Johnny tried to nurse us to the total but the remaining batsmen were unable to stay with him and we finished 45 runs short. An opportunity missed.
