Result - Lord Carnarvon's XI

Sun Jun 25th Grannies lose by 161 runs

Match report

In the Captain's absence J Staniforth kindly took the reins and proceeded to organise the day superbly, take 8 wickets and even write the match report! A massive thanks Stanners and well done. Here's what he had to say.....

Having lost the toss which was the first thing to go wrong; Justus Van Lare and Pari Job opened the bowling and took a wicket each. Stanners and Mike Fernie bowled through to lunch and Stanners was able to take three wickets so that lunch was taken at 182 for 5 which was a lot better than might have been expected. After lunch Stanners bowled unchanged but Mike Cumming Bruce(a candidate) bowled a tidy spell. Stanners kept conning the batsmen and they were eventually all out for 276 with Stanners taking 8- 84!

Alistair Smellie (a Granny) opened the bowling and took 2 wickets, Jay Brimsmead Stockham (a case of “I hit it umps” but given LBW!) and Tom Hoskyns (caught by a 9 year old!), who with our resources did rather represent the best chance of chasing down the total.

Pari made an excellent 54 for us but not much elsewhere and we were all out 115.
