Sun Sep 11th Lost by 7 wickets

Match report

Sometimes it's just not your day.
I woke in Hampshire, without my passport, travelled to Dulwich to get it, only to find on arrival at Windsor they didn't ask for it...
Smouldering, I lost the toss and we were inserted on a pretty green track (not apparently kept dry by the fine covers parked at the side). Opener Sam Stockwell was then run out backing up, and in their innings James Tod had their free-scoring opener 'stone cold lbw' except that the umpire who imparted that news had by then no-balled him. And all the while all our catches went to hand, while theirs mostly failed to (except one incompetently dropped by your scribe).
Thus it was that we got 135 and they got them for 3 wickets down.
In our innings big Jim scored an attractive and apparently effortless 41. James Tod seemed to have scored more than the 18 he was credited with. Steve Corbett (on debut)showed others how to knock it around, in his 31. And Stanners was going well on 8, until cut off at the knees, so bringing an early start to tea.
As it happened we were thick with bowlers and all had a worthwhile go, Sam Stockwell enticing the aforementioned ungathered nick and only Jono Garforth, bowling offies, and Tom Bell, with a bowled and according to their scorer another bowled, although in truth it was a redemptive stumping... getting any in the wickets column.
As ever it was a great day. The sun shone. We had loads of support and our hosts excelled themselves with their hospitality yet again - for all of which we give plentiful thanks.
