Match report
12 Granny golfers took to the Downland course on a glorious day .It was one of those occasions when pretty well everyone knew each other so there was much banter and leg pulling with little attention being played to the golf, probably in order to ensure that they won the prize for the most outrageous shot.
We set off at 9.30 under full stapleford rules and finally crawled in 5 hours later for a welcome late lunch and a fine selection of wines chosen by our resident sommelier ,Anthony Sykes, who was also nearest the pin ( before lunch ) on the 12th.The best team score was compiled by Andy Carr, Tim Begg ( who at 72 scarcely missed a fairway all day ) , Mike Fernie and Jon Staniforth.
The longest drive was surprisingly snaffled by Draff only because no one else landed on the fairway and this was the only occasion when he landed on the fairway.
Then the most coveted prize of the Granny Rocking Chair went to Simon Baldey neatly balanced by some Senior Moment mints to Gerald Slocock for the most outrageous shot/s of the day.
