Match report

After losing the toss and being inserted on an overcast afternoon in Central London, the Grannies got off to the worst possible start - Smithers cutting a loosener into the hands of point first ball. His fellow opener Joe Hall followed 2 overs later, making consolidation the order of the day. On Grannies debut Anthony Wilkinson (14) and Will Devitt (24) dug in, but both fell in the face of some accurate bowling from the HAC first change. The middle order followed in similar fashion, with Chhibber (13), Sam Stockwell (another debutant - 25) and Joe Huxley (26) all looking well set but unlucky not to push on to larger scores. The tail was then blown away with HAC's Lawson claiming 3 wickets in the first over of his second spell to finish with an impressive 6-30. Grannies all out for 112 - a score which looked a good 100 short of being competitive. The Grannies bowling attack did well to make the HAC work for their runs, with Leonard beating the bat regularly in a particularly good opening spell. Wilkinson's spin claimed the two wickets to fall, but ultimately there weren't enough runs on the board and the HAC romped home after 27 overs with 8 wickets to spare.
