Match report

Unusual indeed is it for The Grannies to be able to claim as it's peer the mighty MCC, but on a warm and peculiarly still day on the links at Porthcawl the happy union of the Grannies and the Incogniti held the MCC to a halve in dramatic fashion in the last match on the last green, when our neuro surgeon ringer, partnered with Hamilton, holed from 4 feet to salvage a half, having watched MCC miss to win the game and the match! Earlier in the top match, Philpott and Dyson had lost on 17 but then watched Yeates and Bond halve on 18 with both sides having putts to potentially win, while the 3rd pair of 2 Welsh Incogs, Jenkins and Lock, had secured the point well out in the country. And so it came to that last, heroic putt and an unexpected success. Our erstwhile partner, The Incogs, have never won the Quadrangular but a combination of young blood, local talent, dogged determination and, as far as this undoubtedly biased scribe is concerned, Granny spirit, saw us take home the crystal decanter and the odd job of having to arrange for an engraving on the inside of the decanter!
