Match report
In the first match in the Quadrangular, in effect a semi final, the Grancogs triumphed over the XL Club through the midst of what locals call a light breeze but which in more hysterical corners of the media would be called Hurricane Delilah! A medical emergency meant the Grancogs were one down on the first day but Bond, playing as a single, secured a good win in the country while Jenkins and Philpott halved on the last. That left Hamilton and Dyson and Yeates and Lock looking for 1 point between the two pairs to see the Grancogs into the final. Hamilton had such a day as to persuade himself that the practice ground should be his first destination the following morning, even with a hangover. So eyes turned to debutant Yeates and the canny Lock who won at a canter sending the Grancogs through the final against the MCC who had been in ominous form when defeating the Free Foresters 4-0!
