Match report

The weather meant we played a 20/20 game and on fielding first the Grannies did a good all-round job, Tew making 137-7. Harry Felgate, another grandson of Pou, bowled very well on his Grannies debut taking 2 wickets and Andrew Eliot rolled back the years to when he had both hair and pace in picking up a double wicket maiden. The fielding was vintage Grannies: 2 very good catches off no balls, several drops, one excellent catch at square leg, a quite staggering catch from candidate Steve Bull over his shoulder at cover point and one miss at long off because the fielder had wandered in off his mark on the boundary rope. In reply, The Grannies car never quite got into gear although Sam Pougatch's positive 49 not out got us close we couldn't get the six needed to win off the last ball. A lovelt game, excellent hosts and a fixture we all look forward to. We might even win it one day. MP
