Result - Turks

Sun Sep 5th Grannies lost by 7 wickets with 1 over remaining

Match report

With The Turks out for revenge from last year, they asked the Grannies to bat.
The bowling was tight and the wicket was up to its usual tricks, so scoring was slow, along with the over rate.
Wickets continued to tumble at one end, with one of there bowlers taking all three Sibree wickets.
At the other end Martin Pryke was coming to the rescue with a score of 84.
Martin and Nick Yeates (22), putting on a partnership of 70 for the 7th wicket.
The Grannies declared on 172 for 8 after 40 overs.
James Sibree opened the bowling with an effective spell, but no joy.
With Henry Collins, who struggled for line and length being replaced by Will Sibree.
The master of the Stonegate wicket, then came on, but even Mr John Rayer struggled, ending up with 2 for 51.
Will Sibree finished with 1 for 27, James 0 for 36 and Will Snowden, bowling for the first time for the Grannies, tried his luck.
But it was all to no avail, catches were not taken and run outs missed, which resulted in the Turks getting the runs with just over an over to spare and winning by 7 wickets off 33 overs.
It was a good, competitve game against a friendly bunch, who are looking forward to next years game already.
Thank you very much to all those who played.
