Match report

The Parham skipper greeted Draff with the news that he had "a good young side" to which Draff replied that he had an exceptionally talented "old side" with an average age of 52 !
Happily,we won the toss and elected to bat and after 46 overs notched up 165 for 3 declared with contributions of 56 and 42 Not out respectively from Paul Knight and Nigel Draffan with a breezy 31 from Keith Howick and a less breezy 1 from Michael Bluett, who came all the way from Scotland en famille insisting that he should compete with Bagley for the No 11 slot;so opened instead and muttered "I told you so "!
After a tea time declaration leaving the oppo 2 hours to get the runs, Stanners and Knight bowled very tidily with each taking a wicket. Then Baggers came on ......but did take a crucial wicket. However,we were then treated to some inspired off/no spin bowling from Martin Emmison who took 3 for 31 off 6 overs from the "wrong end" and we had a sniff of winning ,but with 6 wickets down they required 9 to win from the last over and 2 off the last ball .Emmison bowled a straight ,canny yorker from which they scrambled a single to end up with the scores level. What fun we all had with much family support and Bluett dogs on/off the boundary.
