Result - Griffin Inn

Sat Jul 10th Grannies lost by 6 wickets in a 35 over game

Match report

On a sweltering afternoon, having chosen to bat, unfortunately the Grannies failed to post a competitive score (157 all out). Lots of starts but no building an innings. Main scorers were...Jon Staniforth 25 not out at the end of the innings and Andy Medhurst, 24, at the start, and Will Snowden, 21, in the middle order. The second innings began promisingly with the Pullen brothers dismissed for 4 runs apiece (regular rabbits for Grannies bowlers!)but then the small outfield took its toll. John Rayer bowled well but with out luck (0 for 20 off 7 overs), Stanners almost as tidy with 6 overs 1 for 29, and young Peter Kenny took 2 wickets for 54 off 6.3 overs. An outstanding catch at 1st slip by Andy Medhurst off Jon Staniforth's bowling was not enough to turn the tide and The Griffin cantered to victory in 28 overs.

Match info

Another nail biter against 'probably the best pub side in the world', if they served Carlsberg. Flat track, short boundaries, Pullan banter and Harveys after. Makes for an ideal afternoon of relaxed summer cricket.
