Result - Gravediggers

Sun Jun 13th Grannies win on the last ball.

Match report

After a somewhat delayed start with people finding the ground and A.Nolder trying his hardest to squeeze into some very tight whites, 11 Grannies players were assembled at the beautiful ground at Ashfold School and inserted to bat. The openers J.Woolgar & J.Graham got the team off to a strong start and there were many notable contributions throughout the line up with O.Williams, D.King and H.Llewelyn all batting well to take the Grannies to a strong tea declaration of 175 on what was a very sticky wicket.

After a strong opening partnership with the bat the opening pair were asked to open up with the new ball and provided an excellent display of fast bowling. The Gravediggers had a strong Aussie who managed to duck and dive his way to a quick fire fifty of the quicks. J.Wynne & R.Rogers tightened things up and Jeremy took the vital Aussie wicket with an piece of inspired spin bowling. P.Pitt Brown also bowled well and the Grannies managed to keep the pressure on with some excellent fielding from B.Pitt Brown & A.Nolder and some spectacular catching from J.Woolgar.

The game was finally decided in the last over of the day with the Gravediggers requiring 6 off the last ball to win but they could only hit a catch to P.Pitt Brown who held on to win it for the Grannies.

Thanks to all those who played in a thoroughly enjoyable day.
