Result - St Paul's 'All Stars'

Thu May 27th Won by 8 wickets

Match report

Having been put into the field with 3 men short to begin with due to a congested commute to the ground. The bowlers,John Davies, Charles Walford, Oliver Brommage, Dom Fry, Tim Piper and Cliff Dare did a fantastic job in restricting the opposition score to 128 for 7 with some un-granny like fielding. The highlight being a fantastic catch by Jay Stockham running backwards and catching a skier round the back of his head. The batting started ominously with a couple of early wickets but with Cliff Dare coming in at number 3 shortly followed by Dom Fry there was no cause for concern. The former unselfishly seeing out a couple of maiden overs from the opposition leg spinner while Fry unleashed his elegant shot playing and in so doing so knocking in the skippers bat from the other end, whilst being enthusiasticly coached / tutored / encouraged by is batting partner ensuring they saw victory home with 3 overs and 8 wickets to spare. Dare finished on a very solid 33 not out whilst Fry had 51 not out to his name. A great evening for Grannies cricket with some good cricket and humerous banter that will make the rocking chair proud!! Many thanks to all that played!!
