Sun May 23rd Grannies lose, but perform well, in prized new fixture

Match report

On a beautiful day in the spectacular setting of Belmont House, home of Lord Harris, Grannies batted first, declaring on 234 for 8, composed initially of a measured 50 from Ed Warner and 37 from Quinton Newcomb and ultimately by a whirlwind, but immensely classy, 70 from 30 (thirty) balls from Tom Hamilton and 22 from 18 from Ed's brother Jamie. Our bowling attack, of Hamilton, Warner J., Forrest, Rosenvinge, Thomas and Newcomb then kept it tight and had them behind the clock at tea, only for them to accelerate away to get the runs with 11 balls remaining. The game was a classic and much enjoyed by all concerned and we look forward to many more battles with a club with which we are clearly well matched.
