Result - Bar of England and Wales

Sat May 8th Grannies win by 20-odd in 30-over clash in the cold

Match report

On a bleak bleak day on a derelict ground in Dulwich the Grannies did battle with the Bar once more. The Grannies batted first and Tim Piper and Charles Walford with half-centuries were principally responsible for the 202 scored. Martin Bagley, called to the Bar in 1937 and eligible on that account, got a stunning 4-wicket haul.In reply Jay Stockham, also a Granny, batted beautifully for his own half-century, finally succumbing to a brilliant catch on the boundary by Jamie Warner, the latest of the dynasty to look good in Granny colours and clearly one for the future as an opening bowler. With Jay's departure the target became an ever more distant prospect, despite some free hitting from Richard Snowden, after he got the blood to run through his veins, and some late swishing from the Chairman, which included his first six in 30 years...or more. For the third successive year the latter played on the losing side - it is now 2-1 to the Grannies - and may get the message next year.
