Match report

A fabulous Grannies day and game went to the last over before we were beaten with three balls left. We made 215-7 declared with Gavin White anchoring the innings with a fine 89, Perran Moon 30 and Max Felgate, grandson of Pou, making an excellent 42 on his Grannies debut.
After a fabulous tea enjoyed by players and a welcomingly huge turnout of Granny familes, Tew's top 6, honed in league cricket, were clearly fine players but we never stopped chipping away, the wickets shared out, Matt Pumfrey with two and one (and a fine un-Grannies like run out) by another of Pou's grandsons on his debut, Sam Pougatch. There was the usual Granny dollop of dropped catches and misfields but plenty of good cheer as well but it wasn't quite enough on a day of glorious sunshine in the Oxfordshire countryside and everything that is good about Grannies cricket.

Lovely Oxfordshire ground and a tea to almost match Mrs James's.
