Result - Stone in Oxney

Sun Aug 19th Lost by 73 runs

Match report

An enjoyable 40 over game which the Grannies worked hard in but could never quite get the batting going against a disciplined league attack.

The Grannies started well with Ben Yeates taking a couple of early wickets but then struggled against some decent batting as Stone put together a decent but chaseable score of 257 for 4 in their 40 overs.

The Grannies in reply lost regular wickets against a decent bowling attack and only Mike Bellhouse with 78 not out was able to really take the attack to Stone, run rate was never too much of an issue but the innings subsided to 184 all out in the 30th over. Debutant Peter Wigmore was unfortunate to be run out by Mr Bellhouse without facing a ball twenty years after his last game of (schoolboy) cricket.

The Grannies had a pretty decent side on paper but our lack of match practice was shown up by a good young Stone side who all play regular cricket. Thanks to those who played and came to watch.
