Sun Jul 29th GRANNIES WIN BY 7 WICKETS

Match report

Eton 175 all out (42 overs) / Grannies 176 for 3 (38 overs)

First victory in this fixture for many years. Certainly my first in the 4 years I have run the game. Grannies lost the toss and Eton elected to bat. Start of play delayed by 30 minutes due to a downpour. Eton bowled out for 175 with excellent performances from leg spinner Charlie Machin (taking 3-36) and Jon Staniforth (3-35 after lunch). Grannies reply was anchored by the doughty Jay Stockham who batted through the innings for 65 not out. Ably supported by Machin (40) and a quickfire 50 from Mike Hobbiss (recently recipient of 2 Oxford cricket blues) meant Grannies knocked off the runs in the 38th over with a degree of comfort. Excellent day all round - thanks to all for coming along.

How to get there
1 hour from London. Down M4 to Jct 6 and follow signs for Eton. Game is played on 1st XI pitch (Upper Club). We currently have 9 players for the 2012 match with 2 months to go! Could use a spinner and maybe one more batsman...
